Mr Subroto Chattopadhyay, chairman of the Peninsula Foundation, has been unanimously elected as chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for 2009-10.
Mr Vijay Darda, chairman, Lokmat Group, representing Lokmat (Marathi daily), was unanimously elected as deputy chairman of the bureau for 2009-10, an Audit Bureau of Circulations press release said.
The election to the bureau's council of management was held at the 61st annual general meeting of the bureau here on Monday.
Mr Chattopahdhyay had earlier worked in ITC and Pepsico where he was an executive director. He was the chairman of the Indian Music Industries as well as a trustee of Washingtonbased development agency Technoserve.
Mr Ravi Pisharody, president, commercial vehicle business unit, Tata Motors, Mr Vikram Sakhuja, CEOSouth Asia, Group M Media India, and Aritra Sarkar of ABP Group were the new members of the bureau's council of management.
The ABC, founded in 1948, is an organisation of publishers, advertisers and advertising agencies whose main function is to evolve, lay down a standard and uniform procedure by which a member publisher shall compute its net paid sales.
